Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2, 2026
1. The short version
Nothing leaves your browser. youZen is a free, open-source Chrome extension that quiets YouTube. It makes zero external network requests — there is no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporter, no account, and no sync across devices.
2. What we collect
Nothing. youZen does not collect, transmit, or store any of your data on any server. We never see how you use it, what you watch, or anything else.
3. What stays on your device
Your settings live entirely in your own browser, visible only to the extension:
- Your toggle choices (what to hide on YouTube), in
chrome.storage.local - Your keyword and channel block lists
- Per-tab pause state, in
chrome.storage.session, which clears when the tab closes - Your light / dark theme choice
None of this is ever sent anywhere.
4. What we never collect
We do not collect:
- Your browsing or watch history
- The videos, channels, or searches you interact with
- Any account, email, or personal information
- Keystrokes, screenshots, or screen recordings
- Analytics, usage metrics, or crash reports
5. Permissions
youZen only runs on YouTube. Its single site permission is
*://www.youtube.com/*, so it cannot
see or act on any other website you visit.
6. Verify it yourself
Because youZen is open source, you don't have to take our word for it. The full source is on GitHub, including a test that confirms it ships no analytics. You can search the code for any network call and find none beyond loading its own bundled files.
7. Children's privacy
youZen collects no data from anyone, including children. It is safe to use at any age.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date above.

Questions about privacy are best raised in the open — please open an issue on GitHub.
